Radhika, Safina win in badminton

BHADARWAH: To promote sports and to groom the hidden talent of hills, a Sub Division level Badminton Championship under Sadhbhavana was inaugurated at Bhadarwah by Commander 4 Sector RR Brigadier Rohit Nautiyal.
The badminton championship in which 65 male and 36 females will compete in three categories including under-18, female league and open challenge, was inaugurated at Boys Higher Secondary School Bhadarwah by Brig. Rohit Nautiyal. Match referee and senior PET Murtaza Qadir said, “such events not only encourage young players but also portray a soft image of the Bhadarwah Valley as well as the entire Chenab region”.
“At least 110 players are expected to participate in the Sadhbhavana Badminton Championship which is being held after a hiatus of several years,” Murtaza added.
The inaugural match was played between Rubina of GDC Bhadarwah and Radhika Wazir of Kendriya Vidyalya. Radhika won by 25-24 and 25-20 points. In the second match Safina of GDC Bhadarwah beat Muskan of Kendriya Vidyalya.
Those who were present during the inauguration of the championship include CO 4RR Col Ravi Gargotra, Lt Col Paramjeet Singh, Principal Annie Kotwal, ZPEO Pritam Singh and Arif Rana.
