JAMMU: Three Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), i.e., Municipal Committees of Jammu district have agreed to adopt newly introduced Property Tax in their respective areas. As per reports, three ULBs including R S Pura, Arnia and Bishnah Municipal Committees have passed resolutions regarding adoption of Property Tax in their respective jurisdictions.
“Revenue so generated through Property Tax will be used for welfare of public & upgrading local assets within ULBs limits. J&K is the last UT in country to impose property tax, which is quite less in comparison to other States and UTs of the country,” Chairman of a ULB said. All the Chairpersons further said that LG Manoj Sinha has already stated that 40 per cent of population has been already exempted from paying the Property Tax. With this significant decision, these three ULBs have set an example for other remaining ULBs of J&K regarding imposition of property tax.
