JAMMU: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Dogra College of Education on Tuesday organised a Quiz Competition on “Leadership and Personality Development” based on the life of Swami Vivekananda.
Among 50 volunteers of the college took part in the quiz organised as per the direction of Programme Advisor’s Cell, NSS, New Delhi.
Director, Dogra College of Education, Prof. B.D Damral said that leadership development refers to any activity that enhances the quality of leadership within an individual or organisation.
“Different personal traits and characteristics can help or hinder a person’s leadership effectiveness and require formalized programme for developing leadership competencies,” he added.
Principal, Dogra College of Education, Shefali Sharma said that classroom style training and associated reading is effective in helping leaders to know more about what is involved in leading well, however knowing what to do and doing what one knows are two very different outcomes.
In the competition, Shabnum Choudhary bagged the first position while Poonam Choudhary stood second and Heena Slathia and Sonam Sharma shared the third position.
The panel of judges included Poonam Gupta, Senior Lecturer, Bela Thakhur, Academic Coordinator of the College and Rajni Manhas, Programme Officer, NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education.
