KATHUA: Quarterfinals position has been cleared in the ongoing inter-district under-19 boys’ cricket tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at twin venues of Degree College and Sports Stadium, here on Sunday.
Teams reaching the last eight stages of this knock-out competition included Pulwama, Budgam, Ganderbal, Udhampur, Poonch, Kishtwar and Jammu.
The quarterfinals have been scheduled for Monday. Earlier, in one of the first round matches of pre-quarterfinals stages, played today, Jammu District trounced Doda by three runs.
Batting first, Jammu made 106 runs losing all their wickets in 16 overs game. Rahul and Tayyav Farooq remained top scorers with 39 (off 24 balls) and 24 runs respectively. For Doda, Abid claimed two wickets.
Later, Doda could not chase the total and fell short of three runs to the opponent total. In the given 16 overs, Doda could make 103 runs for seven wickets.
In other matches, Kishtwar beat Baramulla by six wickets while Pulwama outplayed Kulgam by three wickets. Similarly, Budgam trounced Kathua by six wickets and Udhampur registered a big eight-wicket win against Samba.
