Qazi Mohra residents protest against PHE, block NH

POONCH: The residents of Mohalla Qazi Morha, Ward No 1, Poonch held a protest against Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department and blocked the National Highway for one hour on Thursday.
Due to non-availability of water in the Mohalla for the last 7 days inspite of repeated representations by the people, the residents were forced to hold protest and block the Jammu – Poonch National Highway. Immediately on receipt of information about the protest, the SHO Poonch reached the spot with his team and interacted with the protesters.
The protesters mostly women said that they were without drinking water for the last seven days and the PHE department has not bothered to rectify the breakdown of pipes. The protester Janki Devi said that they were without water for seven days inspite of appeals made to the department number of times. The SHO asked the JE PHE, Datta to explain to the situation to people to restore the traffic on NH. The JE reached the spot and told the protesters that they will get water through tankers till the pipeline is repaired.
On his assurance, the National Highway was opened and vehicular traffic was resumed.
