JAMMU: National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) activists on Saturday held a protest against PWD Chief Engineer for ignoring the rural roads. The activists of NPSU burned the effigy of (CE) PWD and raised slogans against PWD department.
The protest was led by Thakur Virender Singh who lambasted that this is a matter of concern that old Akhnoor road which connects Kot-Bhalwal to Akhnoor is damaged badly due to the installation of cables and PWD department is silent on the issue. Singh said that many colleges and government institutions are situated on the said road and students are the worst sufferers due to dilapidated condition of the road.
Singh warned the Chief Engineer PWD that if the condition of said road is not improved by blacktopping immediately then NPSU is going to Gherao Chief Engin-eer office very soon and if needed doors of High Court will also be knocked against PWD Department. Others who were present in the protest included Bhupinder Singh, Amit Chib, Shubam Chib, Sahil Mehta, Chetan Sharma, Atish and Rudar Pratap Singh.
