JAMMU: J and K PWD Casual Labourers Union held a protest in front of Chief Engineer, PW(R&B) Department demanding regularisation policy for the workers engaged after 1994.
Raising slogans in support of their demands, the protestors urged the government to frame regularisation policy for all causal workers, who are working in the department for the past over a decade.
They also demanded release of wages under proper wages head.
President of the Union, Ajay Kumar expressed anguish meted out by the previous State Government by making false promises for regularization of around 1336 casual labours working in PW(R&B) Department.
The new coalition Government formed only high power committee for the budget, he said and added, “There are no provisions for our welfare and neither any steps are taken in order to meet our interests.”
The Association served an ultimatum to government to amicably solve their issues before 20th May, 2015 failing which all the workers of will completely shut down their work in both Jammu as well as Kashmir Region.
