Speaking at a programme here after an administrative meeting in the district, Banerjee said that the required land had already been given for the project, which would have a very good investment.
“No hurdles will be allowed for the entire development activities in the district. This will bring an alround development of people in the entire region,” Banerjee said.
Raghunathpur has been identified for an integrated manufacturing and industrial cluster over 2,600 acres under the Amritsar-Delhi-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (ADKIC).
Banerjee had earlier persuaded the Centre to set up the hub and out of three locations suggested by West Bengal, Raghunathpur in Purulia was selected.
The Centre wants to develop ADKIC covering 20 cities in seven states– Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal– to promote manufacturing.
The development of ADKIC would be taken up in a band of 150-200 km on either side of the proposed Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor between Amritsar and Dankuni.
A sum of Rs 1.25 lakh crore worth of investments have been initiated from offers received during the last two global investment summits held in the state.
The chief minister called upon people to keep environment clean in the wake of the outbreak of dengue, while asking the administration to initiate measures in this regard.
During her visit to the district, the chief minister inaugurated eight projects including a government engineering college at Purulia.
The college, affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), would have all the required infrastructure along with good faculty.
The college would offer four-year B.Tech degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science engineering, electronics and communication engineering.
Classes for the first batch would commence on August 10 with 300 students who were selected via West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination.
