POONCH: Purani Poonch Tiger defeated its rival in the final and lifted the trophy of Police Martyrs Football Tournament organised by District Police Poonch at Boys Higher Secondary School Ground, here on Tuesday.
In the final played on Tuesday, Purani Poonch Tiger scripted a win over Khalsa Club Poonch by two goals to one (2-1) in the tough contest. The final match was officiated by Kewal Krishan.
In the closing ceremony, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch J.S Johar was the Chief Guest.
Paying rich tributes to J & K Police Martyrs at the conclusion of football tournament, the Chief Guest said that martyrs gave away their lives to safeguard the future of the State.
He also expressed gratitude to the families of martyrs who have given their dear ones for the safety and security of the State and its people.
The Chief Guest also gave away trophies to winners and runners up teams as also the individual prizes to the participating players.
Others present were Mohd Tariq Khan, Chairman of Shaheed Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball Club Poonch, Dy SP Dr Saleem and DySP Sager Singh Salathia.
