Punjab wrestler Roublejit lifts Ban-Malapur Dangal title

JAMMU: National silver medalist 2016 of Khanna in Punjab, Roublejit clinched the 42nd Ban- Malapur Kesari Vishal Dangal title outplaying Birju of Delhi in six minutes in the title bout of the event, organized by Ban- Malapur Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association at village Ban Malapur in Block Bhawal of District Jammu.
Winner of the title bout, Roublejit was presented with a Bullet motorcycle while runners-up, Birju was given a cash awarded Rs 50,000 by the Chief Guest, former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma in the presence of Guests of Honour, former Minister Mula Ram and Ex MLA Thakur Balwan Singh and Shiv Kumar Sharma and Babishan Singh.
The event was held under the overall supervision of Sarpanch Babishan Singh and President J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma. In all, 82 bouts were played in the one day long wrestling event wherein top renowned wrestlers from Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana and J and K participated.
Second main bout was won by Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla that lasted for 21 minutes who defeated Mohanu of Delhi. Rs 60,000 was cash awarded to Abdual Gani while runner-up Mohanu got Rs 40,000. Third bout was won by Rakesh (Khalli) of UP who defeated Benia Min of J&K Police. Rs 60,000 was cash awarded to winner while runner-up wrestler Benia-Min got Rs 40,000.
Fourth bout was won by Farooq of Sarore who defeated Bagga of Amritsar, fifth bout was won by Sunil of Chandigarh who defeated Mohd. Ishaq (Lallu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu, sixth bout was played between Kaka of R S Pura and Baba of Amritsar which ended in a draw. Bouts played between Sukhchain of Khanna and Kalu of Bishnah and Babba of Kot Bhawal and Ajay Sharma of Udhampur also ended in a draw. Members and technical officials who helped for smooth conduct of event included Sarpanch Babishan Singh, Angrej Singh, Yov Raj, Nitu Verma, Balkar Singh, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Mohd. Fareed, Prem Kumar Master, Om Parkash Sharma, Mulk Raj Sharma, Kulbir, Ravinder Singh and Murli Dhar (Munna).
Prominent persons present in the occasion were social activist and wrestling promoter Ram Paul Sharma, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Admn. Gurpreet Singh, Sarpanches Raj Dev Singh and Rehmat Ali, JE Surinder Kumar, Pahelwan Balkar Singh, Om Parkash Verma, Bittu Raina, Sat Paul, Man Mohan Singh, Sarpanches namely Kuldeep Raj, Mumtaz, Narinder Singh, Sandeep Singh, Amar Nath and Dalbir Singh.
