JAMMU: Wrestler Narinder of Khanna in Punjab clinched 13th annual Dangal, Panya (Akhnoor) Dangal title defeating Shiva of Maharashtra in the main bout at Village Panya in district Jammu.
Title bout winner, wrestler Narinder awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 75,000 along with traditional Gurj (Gadda) while runners-up awarded with Rs 50,000.
The one-day long wrestling event (Dangal) was organized by Panjpeer Dangal Committee Dagar, Panya (Akhnoor) in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision social activist and prominent wrestling promoter, Ram Paul Sharma and Kamal Sharma (president).
Former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council (JKSC) and president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma graced the occasion. Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri and Sat Paul Verma were guests of honour.
The second main bout went to Rashid of Domana Akhara who defeated Chandi of Kohali in Amritsar. Winner Rashid awarded with cash prize of Rs. 20,000 while Chandi got Rs. 15,000. The third bout bagged by Muneer of J&K Police of Nagrota who defeated Babba of Kot Bhalwal. Winner Muneer was awarded with cash prize of Rs.15,000, while runners-up Babba got Rs. 10,000.
In fourth bout, Imam Hussain of Domel, who defeated Munish of Khanna. In another fourth bout, Surjit Singh of J&K Police of Reasi defeated Sumit of Khanna and Reezak of Mallerkotla in Punjab defeated Dillar Khan of J&K Police.
In all, 38 bouts played in the day-long dangal. Chief guest, Shiv Kumar Sharma, in the presence of Ra Paul Sharma and Naresh Kumar distributed cash prizes of Rs 3,50,000.
Members of Panjpeer Dangal Committee Dagar, Panya (Akhnoor), who helped in smooth conduct of Dangal included Ram Paul Sharma, Kamal Sharma, (president), Dr. Ajay Kumar, Raju Sharma, Padam Dev, Ashok Kumar, Chander Mohan, Master Tarsem Lal and Mulkh Raj Sharma.
Bouts were officiated by Ram Paul Sharma, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Sat Paul Verma, Sahil Sharma, Prabhat Singh, Vicky Sharma, Dharminder Sharma and Vikram Sharma of Amritsar (NIS wrestling coach). Proceeding of the dangal conducted by Anil Kumar of Reasi.
Other Results: Kharapu of Jammu beat Deepak of Khanna, Jarnail Singh of Reasi beat Arjun of Jammu Paviter of Mahilpur beat Murad Ali of Nagrota, Irfan of Basantgarh beat Vikas of Dera Baba (Punjab) and Raman of Akhnoor beat Sidarth of Goal Bagh Stadium Amritsar.
