UDHAMPUR: Wrestler Kamaljit of Doomchari in District Ropar of Punjab defeated wrestler Benia Min of J and K Police in a main bout that lasted for 26 minutes in the First Mahavir Vishal Dangal held at Subash Stadium, here on Tuesday.
J and K Vehicleades Private Limited Udhampur and State Bank of India contributed financial assistance to the organisers.
Dangal was organised by Mahavir Dangal Committee in collaboration with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association (JKISWA) under the overall supervision of President JKISWA, Shiv Kumar Sharma, President Mahavir Dangal Committee Balwan Singh and Ram Parsotam Sharma.
In all 53 bouts were played in this one day long Dangal.
Winner of the main bout Kamaljit was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 61,000 by Chief Guest, SSP Police Academy Udhampur Shiv Kumar Sharma, President JKISWA Shiv Kumar Sharma, Balwan Singh and Ram Parshotam Sharma.
DSP Headquarter Surinder Singh Balouria and SHO Udhampur O.P Chib were the Guests of Honour.
Members and Technical Officials who helped the conduct of this one day wrestling event include Balwan Singh (President), Ram Parsotam Sharma, Parhald Singh, Romesh Kumar, Gain Singh, Parkash Ram, Shiv Lal, Swanater Dev Singh Advocate, Om Parkash Verma, Sat Paul, Varinder Badiyal, Tulinder Kumar, Raj Singh, Laxhman Singh Katoch, Vijay Singh (Biju), Mohammad Fareed and Murli Dhar (Munna).
The second bout was won by Sukha of Rajasthan who defeated Kapil of UP. Sukha was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 25,000 while runner-up wrestler Kapil was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 16,000. Third bout was won by Nisar of J and K Police who defeated Manpreet of Doomchari, fourth bout was won by Ajay Sharma of Landon Power House, Udhampur who defeated Talab of Mallerkotla. Ajay Sharma was also declared Best Wrestler of the Dangal. He was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 1,100.
