Pathankot: To streng-then security network along the international and inter-state borders, a high level meeting held here was attended by top police officials and other security agencies of Punjab, Himachal Pardesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Thursday’s meeting discussed ways to plug any loopholes and loose ends along the international borders these states share with Pakistan and China and how to seal them effectively in the event of any incident, Pathankot SSP Rakesh Kaushal said.In the meeting it was decided to periodically check the antecedents of people residing in the border belt and also to check the movements of vehicles plying on the inter-state borders routes, he said.
Security of the Ranjit Sagar Dam was also discussed and a decision has been taken to strengthen security infrastructure in and around the dam, the SSP added.
The meeting was chaired by Ishwar Chander Sharma, Inspector General of Police, Border Range, Amritsar and was attended by A K Mittal, Deputy IG of Police, Border Range, Amritsar, Colonel G S Trivedi, Rajesh Kumar, Commandant, BSF, SSP Kathua (J&K) Neeva Jain, besides representatives from Himachal Pradesh police.
