JAMMU: Mayor of Jammu city, Rajinder Sharma on Wednesday laid foundation stone for a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Swami Vivekanand Chowk which will be completed at an expenditure of Rs. 23 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion Sharma said that the PHC will directly benefit the public of Ward 19, 15, 7 and 6.
“Apart from this, traders near of the area and pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra staying at Agarwal Sabha near Vivekanand Chowk will also benefit from this PHC,” he continued.
The Mayor said that there was dire need of a Health Centre in the area as none of such a centre was there earlier but now many people will benefit from this.
After this Sharma inaugurated the work of renovation of Old Gumat Gate and all the shops and other vending stalls on Gumat stairs and started the work of re-development of Kiosks and Gumat stairs.It will cost 3.5 crores.
He said that J&K government wants to ensure employment to the poor and give them all the facilities so that they may lead a good life and become good citizens of the country.
“Credit of all this directly goes to PM Modi who ensured elections of local bodies in 2018 and made efforts to strengthen of local governance and the public today is enjoying fruits of this in form of developments be these infrastructural, institutional or developments related to public grievance system,” the Mayor maintained adding: “Some people, especially some political parties, that time had opposed the local body elections and today after getting all the benefits from elected local bodies the public may think if those parties were, in some way, against developments.”
“The public should now reply to those parties, while voting during elections, for their anti-public thinking,” Mayor Rajinder Sharma continued.
