KUPWARA: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifulla visited several areas of Kupwara constituency alongwith Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and other senior officers of concerned departments to take stock of the flood situation and relief and rehabilitation measures and gave instructions to the concerned agencies for meeting out the eventualities.
The minister also convened a meeting to review various issues related to flood situation and to take stock of availability of essential commodities.
The DDC informed the meeting that only one death has been reported in the district due to flood, 22 residential and 2 non-residential houses were damaged, 1500 sheep and goat while 625 livestock died due to heavy rain and flash floods.
It was further informed that 2,83,00 qtl of rice is available while Atta, sugar, k.oil and LPG cylinders’ are being issued in the district. The Hospitals are functioning and 433 operations have been conducted in various health intuitions of the districts. The life saving drugs are available for next 10 days meanwhile all the essential services have been restored in the district.
The minister directed the district administration to ensure restoration of all basic services and no officer/official is allowed to leave the station without permission of the Deputy Commissioner.
The educational institutions have been made functional.
The minister sought the damage report from the district administration within a week’s time. Petrol and diesel are being supplied for resuming the ongoing developmental works in the districts.
