Protests continue over NIT issue If BJP has any shame, it should revoke FIR against non-local students: SRS

JAMMU: On the second day more political and socials organizations continued with the protest against the NIT unrest and police Lathi-charge on outstations students for raising pro-India slogans and waiving National Flag.
A strong protest demonstration over brutal Lathi-charge over peaceful and innocents students of NIT Srinagar was held here on Friday. Scores of Congress workers led by PCC General Secretaries Th. Manmohan Singh and Namrata Sharma assembled at Chowk Chabutra Jammu to express solidarity with the NIT students and their parents. Later, the Congress workers took out a rally which after passing through Parade and Purani Mandi culminated at City Chowk.
Lashing out at the Central Government for attempting to polarize the situation and vitiate atmosphere in the premier educational institutions, the Congress leaders alleged that BJP adopting double standards and selective actions for their political vested interests. He strongly criticized the State Government for mishandling the NIT issue and condemned the brutal use of force and termed the same as shameful and unfortunate.
Th. Manmohan expressed serious concern over the prevailing situation and the sense of insecurity amongst the students and parents which has further aggravated due to the uncalled for and unjustified use of force.
Namrata Sharma lashed out at Modi led BJP Government at the Centre for creating confusion and state of insecurity amongst the people of the country. She criticised the police action on the innocent students of NIT Srinagar and extended support to the cause of the students and their parents.
Pawan Dev Singh President Block Congress Committee, Anand Gandotra, Deepak Mehra, Raju Malhotra, Ajay Sawhney, Maechal Wazir, Raj Kumar Mehra, Konal Kohli, Divyaansh, Sandeep Gandotra, Jugal, Jamshed, Vicky Choudhary, Sanjay, Rajinder Kumar, Antim Rathorre, Bimla, Swarn Kanta, Suman Lata, Ram Lal and Akash were also present.
Democratic Pannun Kashmir (DPK) condemned the brutal police action on non-local students of NIT Srinagar who were protesting with Tri-colour in their hands and chanting Pro-India slogans.
Convenor Rainder Jalali demanded that the CRPF should be permanently posted inside the campus to ensure that no anti-national activities take place and also demanded that the Tri-colour should be kept hoisting in NIT permanently as it is a sign of patriotism and nationalism.
Taking serious note of the violence that erupted on the NIT campus Srinagar, Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) held protest and demanded from the State Government to take effective and strong action against all persons involved including police officers to instill confidence among students who have come to study at NIT from outside the State.
President YRS Surinder Singh Gilli requested all the people of Jammu region to unite and fight together against such anti national elements adding that Yuva Rajput Sabha will continue its fight against such anti national elements.
Others present were Komal, Sonu, Vikram, Rinku, Rajinder, Pushvinder, Manja, Rajveer, Lambu, Gabbar, Sonu, Darbinder, Kaku, Prem, Parveen, Mesha, Lovely, Vishal, Brita, Shakti, Sanjeev, Bindu, Sanjay, Bindu, Anil, Bunty and Kuki.
Hitting out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership in the State as well as Centre over NIT issue, State President, Shri Ram Sena, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajiv Mahajan said, “If the BJP has any shame left, they should immediately revoke FIR being lodged by the Jammu and Kashmir Police against non-local students to pre-empt the enquiry constituted by the State authorities against them.”
It is pertinent to mention here that Jammu and Kashmir Police has invoked sections 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 427 (mischief), 336 (endangering life of others), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), sections 353 (assault on public servant) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) against non-local students.
Rajiv said that anti-national elements want to destroy the peaceful atmosphere of the State by indulging in such violence and police lodged FIR against non-local students who unfurled National Flag and chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai in the campus.
Rajiv Mahajan also took a dig on Chamber of Commerce and Industries asking that where is CCI whose 24-hour ultimatum to government to take action against anti-national elements has been proved hollow by BJP.
Activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) led by its President Sunil Dimple held a protest and burnt Pakistan Flag in support of the non local NIT Srinagar students and against use of brutal force on them, registering of FIRs against them.
Dimple threatened Jammu Bandh if culprits are not arrested immediately.
Dimple said it is matter of great concern that Dy CM Nirmal Singh visited Srinagar but not met NIT students to restore their confidence. He demanded resignation from the Deputy CM Dr Nirmal Singh on moral ground for creating trouble and not handling the situation wisely and for his irresponsible statement that mild Lathicharge was done on the NIT students, when there are reports that more than 100 students were brutally beaten by police and seriously injured.
Among others who joined the protest were Sham Saroop, Harbans Tondon, Som Nath Sharma, Vijay Khjuria, Raman Gupta, Vipan Mukesh, Rakesh, Ashok Khana, Raj Kumar Kulwant Sharma and Bansi Lal.
ABVP Jammu unit demanded immediate revocation of the FIRs that are lodged against the innocent nationalist students of NIT Srinagar.
Addressing a press conference here, ABVP State Secretary Varsha Jandial said that innocent nationalist students of NIT have been implicated in false allegations. She demanded immediate revocation of the FIRs lodged against them. She also demanded safe and secure NIT campus where prime focus should be given on the security of non-local students.
ABVP Jammu University President Lokinder Singh demanded from MHRD to appoint a Nodal Commission at all educational institutes of Valley where grievances of non-local students be taken care of. He too demanded stern action against the police officials involved in brutal Lathicharge on NIT students.
Meanwhile, Jammu Mahanagar ABVP threatened mass Dharna at Press Club Jammu on Monday, 11th April if the FIRs are not revoked till then.
Among others present in the press conference were Kannav Sharma Secretary Jammu University, Deepak Gupta Mahanagr Joint Secretary and Sidhant Randhawa SWC.
KATHUA: The activist of Youth Congress under the leadership of Loksabha Youth Congress President Advocate Vinay Sharma and Loksabha Youth Congress General Secretary Advocate Rajeev Gupta, held a demonstration at Dayalachak and blocked National Highway. The protesters raised slogans against Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and State Government for its failure in protecting the non -local students of NIT Srinagar.
Advocate Vinay Sharma also demanded a probe into the whole matter by Judges of High Court and culprits should be booked under the sec 124-A of RPC and 121 RPC of seditions charges who chanted pro-Pakistan and pro-Azadi slogans .
Advocate Rajeev Gupta also criticised Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh for defending the act of Kashmir Police.
Billawar President Kewal Krishan, Vice-President Anirudh Sharma, General Secretary Dalbir Singh, Hiranagar President Romy Sharma, General Secretary Sanjeev Mathur, Mukesh Kumar and Gulshan Kumar, Youth leader Swarn Singh, Romesh Kumar, Sarpanch Suriender Singh and many others were among the protesters.
