POONCH : Jammu – Poonch National Highway was closed near Surankote on Friday for two hours by the villagers for not handing over the body of a youth who died of a heart attack at Manjakote late in the night on Thursday.
According to reports the youth identified as Hussain Mohd son of Abdul Aziz resident of Malhan, Surankote who was grazing his cattle in Thannamandi/Manjakote forests, complained of chest pain and was shifted to Manjakote Hospital. The Manjakote Hospital referred the case to District Hospital Rajouri but be died enroute. The doctors in District Hospital decided to conduct postmortem of the body which the attendants of the deceased did not allow.
Since the doctors insisted for postmortem to know the actual cause of death, the attendants informed his family members in the village who held a protest and blocked the National Highway at Lassana. Naib Tehsildar, Dy SP and SHO Surankote rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters and took up the case with hospital authorities Rajouri. On the assurance of administration, the protesters lifted Dharna.
The body was later handed over to his family members at Rajouri without conducting postmortem which was brought to his village and finally buried in the evening.
