RAMBAN: A large number of people from Wagan Nachilana Banihal held a protest against government and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) over the poor condition of 40 km Ramban-Banihal stretch of National Highway.
The protestors blocked National Highway for several hours demanding immediate attention towards the poor condition of the said stretch of NHW and called upon the administration and government to take immediate measures for repairing the road.
They said that the passengers travelling on this road are facing lot of inconvenience due to rough surface coupled with potholes.
The agitating people alleged that Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) responsible for maintaining of Ramban-Banihal
National Highway is withdrawing huge bills in the name of maintenance added that nothing concrete is visible on ground.
They said that sub standard work was executed at many places and this make the road vulnerable to accidents as well as causes public to suffer.
They further said that contractors with the help of HCC officials though withdraws the bills worth crores of rupees and left the road abandon at the mercy of God that too in the violation of terms and conditions fixed in the contract.
