POONCH: In order to review the security arrangements for Muharram in District Poonch, DIG Rajouri Poonch Range Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, convened a joint virtual meeting of Police officers and prominent Shia leaders of Poonch District.
Vinay Kumar, SSP Poonch, Mushim Ahmed ASP Poonch, Afrat Hussain DySP Hqrs Poonch along with prominent religious leaders of district Poonch including Alhaj Intizar Hussain Sofi Chairman AJP (Anjuman-e-Jafria Poonch), Sayed Zakir Haider Ex.President AJP, Najam-ul-Hassan General Secretary Shia Federation Poonch, Shamim-ul-Hassan President Tanzeem-ul-Momineen Mandi, Ali Mohd Mir Chairman S.R.Memorial, Asgar Ali Mir President Pleara, Iftikhar A. Bazmi, Ajaz Mir, Mussarat Ali, Imitaz Ahmed, Sayed Pagember Raza, Zeeshan Mir, Sayed Nusrat Hussain Shah attended the meeting physically from DPO Poonch
On the onset SSP Poonch introduced and briefed the chair about the security arrangements made by District Police so far as the Muharram Congregations are already underway in various parts of District Poonch where in Shia Community is observing Muharram. Heads of various Shia Organizations apprised the chair regarding the schedule of the programmes in their respective areas. In the coming days, particularly on the 8th, 9th, and 10th day of Muharram falling on 27th, 28th, and 29th July 2023.
Discussion was held regarding the timings, route, likely gatherings, arrangement required, and security deployment at various locations across the Poonch District.
All participating religious leaders expressed their satisfaction over the pleasure over helping hand extended by Poonch Police till now and hoped the events will pass peacefully and successfully and in an environment of harmony and brotherhood.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IPS DIG R-P Range assured that all points put forth by them shall be seriously looked into and all required arrangements particularly the security deployments will be ensured at each venue and Imambaras as per the schedule provided. He emphasized upon all community leaders to engage their volunteers to closely coordinate with local Police and other security agencies for peaceful conduct of the Muharram with all sanctity.
He also stressed upon using torch, lights, and Mashaals during night movements and also requested them to follow specified main routes only.
All necessary security steps shall be taken while making the deployments.
DIG RP Range asked the district Police officers to conduct coordination meetings with other community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure all facilities to mourners during Muharram.
He emphasized to the Police officers of Poonch to hold coordination meetings with other SFs and NCA deployed there so that collective efforts are made for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Muharram activities across the RP Range.
