JAMMU: JK Public School Kunjwani invoked all the students on its rolls to cultivate strong communication skills in English. Principal, Rajesh Rathore highlighted the salient features of the language English and the upper edge it provides to the practitioners of the language English on its efficient acquisition. He spoke at length about its most prominent feature of being an International language. It’s spoken widely across the nook and cranny of the globe. One may communicate oneself in any part of the globe, if an individual possesses some proficiency in it. Highlighting the second prominent feature of the language, he added that English is the Link language for our nation. Working knowledge of the language English helps a practitioner to communicate oneself across the length and the breadth of the country: whether it be the far East or the down south. English is the Library language for our country India, wherein more than 80% books in any school library are in the language English. How ironical is the fact that only 20% books in any school library are in the national language Hindi!
English enjoys the privilege of being the Business language of the world. Even the oriental countries, like, China, Japan, Korea etc got compelled to run the courses, namely, Master of Arts in English to maintain their supremacy in the professional world. With the aim to motivate students for acquiring the requisite proficiency level in English, Principal Rajesh Rathore designed a comprehensive plan for the students ranging from Grade I to XII. Students of Grade I-IV will focus on Vocab skills, Grade V students will acquire skills to convert a word into other derivative forms. Grade VI students will strive to achieve mastery over “phrasal verbs”. Grade VII students will slog to achieve proficiency in the domain of “Idiomatic phrases”. Grade VIII students will delve deep into the world of “Synonyms”, whereas the students of Grade IX will make forays in the domain of “Antonyms”. Grade X students will acquire proficiency in the sphere of “One word substitution”. XI graders will make a rich compendium of “Proverbs & Maxims”. Finally the students of Grade XII will pick the choicest quotations from various resources to make their “Quotation diary” a wisdom bank. To improve English, he suggested students to keep a Thesaurus in their school bags. This will help in enhancing their vocabulary. He laid emphasis on attempting a page of creative writing in their Diary or laptop before retiring to bed at the end of the day.
