SRINAGAR: Former Union Minister and President J and K Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz intervened to pacify the angry mob protesting against irregular water supply at Singpora Pattan here on Thursday.
According to report, Soz was stuck in traffic jam caused by the protesting locals to highlight the scarcity of essential services. The irate mob was hell-bent to stop the vehicular movement until the restoration of potable water supply.
Prof. Soz convinced the people to allow him to seek redressal of their grievances from the administration. He sorted out the problem with Chief Engineer PHE Muzaffar Lankar, who assured him that the problem would be resolved soon. “Meanwhile, adequate quantity of water would be provided through water tankers”, the Chief Engineer assured.
Later, Prof Soz learnt that the problem was actually related to power supply. He expressed anxiety that the essential coordination among various departments was missing and the result was that common people were suffering.
Prof. Soz urged the Head of various departments to come to the rescue of common people and ensure that the people were not made to face hardship during the present conditions of fragile administration and severe cold weather.
