Prof Nazir A Ganai assumes charge as VC SKUAST-J

JAMMU: Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai assumed charge of Vice- Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu. Soon after assuming the charge of VC SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. Ganai held a meeting with statutory officers of the University and took stock of various ongoing teaching, research and extension activities of the University and sought their cooperation for taking the University to new heights.
He urged scientists to work together with team spirit to achieve the goals of creating competent human resource for the sustainable development of agriculture and allied sectors. He impressed that we should work actively and consistently for improving overall quality of life encompassing food, nutritional and economic security by respecting nature without disturbing natural ecosystem. He suggested the scientists to prepare future road map of the University that will contribute towards the welfare of stakeholders including students, farmers, agri-industries and consumers. He stressed that our students should be responsible global citizens and our farmers should be knowledgeable, well informed and progressive. He urged for entrepreneurship development in agriculture and allied sectors by capacity building of stakeholders for fulfilling the futuristic demand of skilled manpower in agriculture sector.
During the meeting he also took stock of status of orientation and training programmes being conducted under the project, “Holistic Development of Agriculture and Allied Sectors” approved by the J&K administrative council.
Earlier, Dr. Nazir A Ganai appreciated former Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J.P. Sharma for his immense contribution in the progress and development of both the farm universities and the farmers of J&K. He said that Prof. Sharma was instrumental in establishing strong linkage among agriculture and allied departments and close coordination between SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir. He appreciated Prof. Sharma for building good ambience in the university that promote productivity, motivation and team spirit in the scientists and students. Registrar SKUAST-Jammu, Registrar SKUAST- Kashmir, Directors and the Deans of the faculties and were also present during the meeting.
