STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU: Former Member of Indian Council of Historical Research and Dean of Jammu University’s Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Hari Om’s new book “Jammu Kashmir Ladakh: Different Political Terrains” today hits the stands. The book deals with the general elections 2024, victory of the BJP in Jammu and Udhampur as well as erosion in its support-base and the causes behind the erosion in its support-base, humiliating defeat of former chief ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, in Kashmir and triumph of united Kargil over the vertically divided Buddhist Leh. The book, in addition, deals with the support-base of political parties active in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

The book also deals with the nature of state politics and political parties in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and their origin, leadership and ideology. It, in addition, throws light on the poll planks on which the BJP and the Kashmiri parties, including the National Conference, the Congress, the People’s Democratic Party, the People’s Conference and the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, fought the elections.

Besides, the book throws light on the attitude of political parties towards the August 5-6, 2019 historic reforms introduced by the Narendra Modi Government to integrate Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh fully into the country, reorganise the State of Jammu and Kashmir and meet the Buddhists’ demand seeking Union Territory status for the Trans-Himalayan Ladakh.

The irreconcilable contradictions between Jammu province and Kashmir and contradictions within Ladakh or between Kargil and Leh form the core of the book.

The book is available with OBEROI Book Service, Bahu Plaza Complex, Jammu, and Amazon.
