JAMMU: Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi exhorted the need to follow the philosophy and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh to enrich human life and promote peace and harmony in the society.
Priya Sethi said this while speaking during a function organised to mark the celebrations of 350th Birth Anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Gurdawara Sikh Bhat Biradari at Rani Park.
The minister said that Guru Ji was a poet, philosopher, warrior and spiritual master whose teachings of universal brotherhood, equality and the spirit of self sacrifice for others hold more relevance in the present times and they should be followed to carve out an egalitarian society irrespective of parochial considerations of caste, colour and creed
While highlighting the role of the Guru Ji, Priya Sethi said that he made unparalleled contribution in upholding the age-old traditions of secularism besides safeguarding the human rights. She emphasised the need for inspiring the youth to learn and imbibe the teachings and sacrifices of the great Guru Gobind Singh.
While responding to various demands raised by the people regarding the development of the area, the minister assured that their demands would be taken up with the concerned authority for an early redressal. Among others who were present on the occasion include President of the Gurudwara, Chiman Singh, Secretary, Hira Singh, senior political leaders, prominent citizens and devotees in large number.
