Priya Sethi calls on Governor

SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture, Priya Sethi and Commissioner Secretary, Relief and Rehabilitation Department, Dheeraj Gupta called on Governor, N.N Vohra, here on Tuesday.

Sethi briefed the Governor about the various steps which are being initiated for improving the obtaining infrastructure and efficient utilization of the available resources in the departments for which she is responsible. The Governor discussed with Sethi the pressing concerns about the educational scenario in the State and the measures which require to be urgently enforced to strengthen and enhance the standards of teaching and research in the education sector. Sethi informed the Governor about the need to ensure that the two year B.Ed course was equally implemented in both the Jammu and Kashmir regions as, otherwise, avoidable academic irregularities would arise, to the disadvantage of those who did a one year course. The Governor assured the Minister that both the Universities would duly implement the revised curricula.

The Governor wished Sethi high success in all her endeavours.

Gupta briefed the Governor about the various activities which were planned to be implemented by his Department for promoting the interests and welfare of the migrant families and the people affected by the 2014 floods. He also informed about the to-date position regarding the ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures for the flood affected victims in the State and the present status of the World Bank Project for funding restoration of public infrastructure which had been damaged/destroyed by the floods.
