The ritual of the autumn session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislature is over. Now the focus is shifting to the conduct of Assembly elections slated this year. The proceedings of the just concluded session, therefore, was prelude to things to unfold in ensuing months. The common man is aghast over the outcome of the session as their representatives remained engrossed in playing to the galleries than undertaking serious business with regard to solving the problems of people and framing up policies vis a vis development. Except shouting and creating ruckus over emotive issues, the lawmakers did nothing that could be described as significant in terms of satiating urges and aspirations of people.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for those claiming to be champions and custodians of public interest to abuse their mandate in a most brazzen manner?
