The so-called Food Safety Officers have seized relabeled stocks of old fruit juice in Srinagar and decided to destroy these, in accordance with the High Court directions. The seizure unfolds the harsh truth of adulterated and spurious food items being fed to people by unscrupulous elements without any check. Importantly, the most consumable item remains milk, which is openly selling in different prices but nobody is taking cognizance. Same is case with other edible commodities.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for the supervisory staff of the concerned agencies to be selective and ‘allow’ bulk sale of food consumables in the market for ‘petty considerations’ notwithstanding their hazardous impact on public health, including their own?
