President truck union arrested for killing Excise guard

KATHUA: Jammu: Police on Thursday arrested the main accused in the shootout between two groups of truck operators two days back, which left one Excise guard dead and two others injured.
Four accused were arrested on the same day after conducting series of raids at Jammu, Kathua and Pathankote.
Kuldeep Singh alias Kingu, son of Harnam Singh, resident of Ward No 8 here who is President of Truck Operators Union, was arrested while trying to flee towards Punjab via the Ravi river in Kathua belt on foot, the SSP Kathua Mohan Lal said.
Kuldeep Singh was absconding, and a raid was organised in different parts of the state, the officer said, adding that his bank accounts have been frozen and a lookout notice was being issued, when he was arrested.
On 16th September, 2014, a shootout incident had taken place in the office building of Truck Operators Union at Govindsar, Kathua in which the president of Truck Union, Kuldeep Singh and others had fired upon the members of rival group which resulted into the death of one Excise Guard namely Kuldeep Sharma, son of Babu Ram Sharma, resident of ward no 2, Kathua while two other persons identified as Mohinder Singh, son of Sardar Singh, resident of Rajbagh and Bhupinder Singh, son of Lahna Singh, resident of Rakh Lachhipur Kathua had also sustained bullet injuries and got seriously injured who were shifted to GMC, Jammu for further treatment.
FIR 327/14 under section 302,307,147,148,149 RPC, 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua. A special investigating team headed by Yogesh Sharma, Addl. SP Kathua, Mushim Ahmed, DSP Hqrs. Kathua, SHO Police Station Kathua was constituted by SSP Kathua Mohan Lal to investigate the case.
Acting promptly after the incident the Police swung into action and four persons involved in the incident namely Harbans Singh son of Joginder Singh, resident of ward number 14, Kathua, Manmohan Singh alias Kawa, son of Harnam Singh, resident of ward number 08, Kathua, Deepak Raj, son of Som Raj, resident of ward number 12, Kathua and Ankush Paral son of Sohan Lal, resident of ward number 08, Kathua were arrested form Govindsar and other parts of district Kathua.
Mohan Lal said that Kingu;s personal Bank accounts were freezed and a look out notice was in the process of being getting issued.
The SSP Kathua had constituted different Police teams to arrest the main accused. The teams conducted raids the different locations at Jammu, Pathankot, Kathua and others parts of State.
