UDHAMPUR: Alleging negligence and failure in handling the case of a pregnant woman who died on the way to GMC Hospital, family members of the lady and people on Tuesday staged a protest against the doctor in the premises of District Hospital Udhampur (DHU).
According to a report, a housewife identified as Nishad Bano wife of Mohd Zubed resident of Udhampur was pregnant and developed some critical pain and shifted to District Hospital Udhampur by her family members. On seeing the gravity of the case, gyneacologist referred her to GMC Jammu on Sunday. Problem erupted when victim died on way to Jammu.
However family members performed last rites, and along with local people assembled in the premises of the DHU where they held protest against the erring doctor who took hasty decision of shifting her resulting in her death. Protesters raised slogans against the doctor and Health Department for not attending the patient properly. They urged the local administration to hold an independent probe and also lodged FIR against the erring doctor so that in future no other doctor dares to dealt with any patient carelessly.
On receiving the information elected MLA Pawan Gupta and SHO Mahesh Sharma reached the spot and assured them that he would take up the matter with higher ups of the Health Department to find out the shortfall and carelessness in handling particular case.
Later protestors also met Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr. Chandar Parkash and appraised him all about the case who also assured the protesters that he would hold an enquiry and in case of any laxity a strict action shall be initiated against the defaulter.
