Dear Editor,
Under the Armed Forces Special Power Act, the Armed Forces are required to take stock of the situation, use force whenever the situation demands for the safety and security of the public. This is inevitable and mandatory. The Armed Forces are duty-bound to execute and materialise the direction of the government which is responsible for preserving national security, stability and integrity. The Apex Court may lack practical experience in studying the situation in Manipur. To preserve national interest is the prime pursuit of the government that cannot be undermined and ignored.
