SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police Kashmir, S.J.M Gillani on Tuesday informed that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is going to conduct Police Public Cricket Premier League for J&K Cricketers on the format of IPL from 2nd June, 2015 at Srinagar with the objective to promote sports culture in the state and provide platform to the cricketers of the state to exhibit their hidden talent and helps them to feel the aroma of IPL at Srinagar.
The national cricketers as well as cricketers of colleges, universities, local players shall take part in this premier league.
The corporate companies will be the owners and sponsors of the team and each team will be composed of 16 members which will include Ranji, former Ranji, Under 19 and 25, university, college and the local players.
“The owners have liberty to furnish the list of 8 key players of their teams and during auction they shall have to purchase the rest of 8 players,” Gillani said.
The tournament shall be organized under the overall supervision and chairmanship of Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar and the total amount of Rs.27.18 lakh will be awarded as cash prizes in this tournament which involves Rs. 5 lakh for winner team, Rs 3 lakh for runners up team, Rs 2 lakh for third place, Rs 1.5 lakh for fourth place, Rs 1 lakh each for fifth to eighth place and so on, he informed.
The IGP Kashmir invited the Corporate/Sponsors to come forward for the ownership/sponsorships of teams and become a part of this Police-Public Cricket Premier League.
Rajesh Gill former Ranji Player and Organizing Secretary of the tournament intimated to all the interested team owners to get register themselves in writing and deposit the entry fees before 15th of May, 2015 positively to the organizing committee and there after no entry shall be registered. He also intimated that the two finalists teams of PPCPL Jammu namely Simula Superstars and BCC Bulls have got registered for their participation in PPCPL Srinagar.
He further informed to all participant Cricketers to sign any team of their choice but if any of the players was found giving consent in writing with his signature to multiple team owners or giving a false category, he will be disqualified from the league and will not be put on the auction.
The interested cricketers of Jammu and Kashmir are invited to enroll themselves in a couple of days with the Organizing Secretary alongwith their complete resume. Only enrolled cricketers shall be placed for auction.
