JAMMU: On the second day of ‘Poungar,’ the four days Youth Music Festival organised by J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages here at K.L Saigal Hall, the youngsters enthralled the audience with their melodious voice during the folk performances.
Anjali Sharma, Director Doodarshan, Jammu was the Chief Guest, while Khalid Hussain eminent Punjabi Short Story writer presided over the function. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL was also present.
Anjali said that such efforts will help to encourage and provide space to the upcoming talent of the region particularly in the field of music.
Khalid Husain said that Jammu region is rich in his folk and it is the prime time to work for the development and preservation of folk music of Jammu region.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn said that this festival is organised with the mission to prepare the second line in the field of folk music.
Singers who participated include Sushmita Banerjee (Punjabi folk) Nikshap Pandita, Sanviti Digras (Dogri Folk) Saparsh Narayaniya (Dogri Folk) Bunty Malhotra (Dogri) Muskan Sahil (Punjabi), Karan Bhagat (Folk Tappe) Dhaniya Sharma (Dogri) Vansha Jamwal (Dogri), Anikait Hashia (Kashmiri). Others who accompanied the singers include Sahil Jasotra on Tabla, Chandan Kumar on Harmonium and Sunil Sharma on Flute.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Rattan Lal Basotra, Assistant Editor Dogri while vote of thanks was presented by Dr Yash Pal Nirmal, Research Assistant Dictionary.
O.P Sharma, Prof Raj Kumar, Brijmohan, K.K Shakir and Kamaldeep Singh were also present.
