JAMMU: Social and RTI activist Mohd Sadib Poswal recently met with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha to address a range of pressing local concerns.
He presented a comprehensive list of recommendations aimed at improving governance and ensuring transparency in the region.
Poswal urged for timely updates on complaints filed through the JK Grievance Cell, suggesting mandatory provision of inquiry reports to complainants for further action. He recommended the introduction of an online platform for RTI applications, similar to the central government’s system. Poswal called for the public availability of revenue records for various villages to enhance accountability. He proposed a mandatory feedback collection from complainants before grievances are closed, to ensure effective resolution.
Poswal raised concerns about illegal construction on Gair Mumkin Khad land and called for expediting the issuance of Fard-e-Intikhab documents in Jammu.
He highlighted the need for protective walls along key Nallahs, road construction and widening projects, and the establishment of facilities like Janaza Gah and graveyard boundaries.
Poswal requested the installation of CCTVs in all police stations and the fixing of boundaries for municipal and development authorities in rapidly developing areas.
He advocated for clear signage on public works detailing project contracts and responsible parties to enhance accountability.
Poswal suggested a reserved quota in missionary schools for underprivileged children and proposed adjustments to rent charges for government land-based institutions.
He expressed hope that these recommendations would lead to effective solutions for the community’s burning issues, reinforcing his commitment to advocating for local rights and transparency.
