Postal deptt gives awards to Dhai Akhar campaign winners

SRINAGAR: Department of Posts on Monday awarded winners of “Dhai Akhar” campaign viz. Letter Writing Competition, in a function held here at Srinagar GPO Complex.
Sharad Kumar, Director, Airport Authority of India, Srinagar Airport distributed the prizes among the winners. The theme of the Letter Writing Competition was “Dear Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi), you inspire me…”. In the function, the Department of Posts, J&K awarded three best letters at Circle Level in each category chosen in the National Level Letter Writing Competition under the “Dhai Akhar/Letter Writing Campaign which ran from June 24, 2017 to August 15, 2017.
The top three participants in each category were awarded Circle level cash awards in the exhibition. The first prize carried a cash award of Rs. 25,000 along with Philately stamps worth Rs. 2,500 and a free Philately Deposit Account. The second prize carried a cash award of Rs. 10,000 along with stamps worth Rs. 2,500- and a free Philately Deposit Account. The third prize carried a cash award of Rs. 5,000 along with stamps worth Rs. 2,500 and a free Philately Deposit Account. The letter writing competition comprised of four categories Inland Letter Card Category (Above 18 years, upto 18 years), Envelope Category (Above 18 years, upto 18 years) . In the category of Inland Letter Card upto 18 years first prize was bagged by Kasak Katoch from Jammu, second prize was bagged by Kibra Javaid of Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School, Srinagar and third prize was bagged by Shabir Ahmad of St. Paul’s Academy Srinagar. In the category of Envelope upto 18 years, first prize was bagged by Samriti Sharma from Sunderbani, Rajouri, second prize was bagged by Sanaya Mahajan of KC International School, Jammu and third prize was bagged by Kanhiya Lal Sharma, Samba. In the category of Envelope above 18 years, first prize was bagged by Aqib Bashir of Frisal Kulgam, second prize was bagged by Falah Fida Wani of Hawal Srinagar and third prize was bagged by Hamid Ali Shah of Jammu University.
On the occasion, a Special Philately Exhibition was also organized. Renowned Philatelists of Jammu and Kashmir Dr. Seemin Rubab, Aashiq Hussain, Samit Kapoor, Anita Kapoor and young philatelists of Kashmir Arushi Pandita and Avni Pandita displayed their collection of rare stamps and special cover issued by Department of Posts, India and other postal organizations across the world on Mahatma Gandhi and other themes. A special cover on Dhai Akhar Letter Writing campaign was also released by Department of Posts in the exhibition.
Rattan Lal, Assistant Postmaster General, J&K Circle and G.R Parrey, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Jammu were also present besides other senior officers from the Department of Posts.
