Post-suspicious movement in Nagrota, Army enhances checking on Jmu-Sgr NH

JAMMU: Hours after suspicious movement was seen in Nagrota area on city outskirts here following which few rounds were fired last night, Army Tuesday enhanced security grid and frisking on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Army has laid special check point this morning at Nagrota on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway following Monday night’s suspicious  movement near Garrison compound.
“All vehicles plying on the highway are being stopped and thoroughly frisked by the Army personnel,” sources here said.
They said besides vehicles, passengers are also being checked by the Army.
Pertinent to mention here that Army on seeing an unwanted movement near Garrison compound at Nagrota fired few rounds in which one person was reportedly got injured.
Police however, said that the man injured was not a suspect but a civilian who had inadvertently reached near the Garrison.
“He is stable and in their custody at Army Hospital,” said police adding that his statement is yet to be recorded.
Police also called checking as routine exercise ahead of Republic Day.
NC MLA from Nagrota Devendra Singh Rana also raised issue in the House and said that atmosphere of fear psychosis is being created and attempt is being made to convert Jammu into Kashmir.
He demanded probe into the firing incident following which Road and Building Minister A R Veeri assured him of reply with facts.
On November 29 last year, terrorists struck Army’s unit at Nagrota in which seven including two senior army officers attained martyrdom while all three terrorists were also killed.
