Poorva Sainiks honoured kin of martyrs

JAMMU: Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad (PSSP) on Sunday honoured kin of martyrs from the armed forces and para military forces belonging to J and K State and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who laid their lives while serving the nation during the last one year.
In this connection, a function was organised by the PSSP at Ram Mandir Complex, Sainik Colony here. A total of fourteen families were honoured at the function. While four families were from Jammu region ten were from the Valley. The close relatives were honoured with a shawl and some monetary assistance. A total of 160 martyrs families have been honoured since the inception of the scheme.
Major General (retd) P.S Chib was the Chief Guest, who praised the role of men in uniform and how their sacrifices have played a major role in securing our borders and containing other forces inimical to our national interests. He also appreciated the role being played by the PSSP in looking after the interests of martyrs’ kin and welfare of the Ex-servicemen.
The programme was presided over by Brigadier Suchet Singh (retd), Vice President, Akhil Bharatiya PSSP. Earlier, Brig Ravindra Jamwal (retd), President PSSP welcomed the Chief Guest and highlighted the role and functions of the organisation.
