Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to highlight the issue that the rice being sold at ration depots in Jammu are of poor quality and not fulfill the required standard. Food and Supplies Department has failed to maintain the standard of ration being given to people at government ration depots. The rice which is supplied to people at these depots is rotten and broken. It is an essential food item and the department should keep a check on the quality of rice being supplied to people.
Approximately 80 per cent of population in Jammu is directly dependent on these ration depots for their monthly ration items and if such a poor quality is supplied to them how people are going to meet their needs. What is the fun of introducing Food Safety Act and other Acts if there is no implementation?
I through this medium would like to request the concerned authorities to keep a check on the quality of products being supplied to people and also maintain the supply so that people do not face any difficulty in getting their monthly ration supply.
