POONCH: The Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K organized a UT level Taekwondo tournament in Jammu, where 12 players from Poonch district put up an outstanding performance and won six gold, three silver and three bronze medals. The players have also been selected to represent Poonch district and J&K at the 66th School National Games to be held in Delhi. Deputy Commissioner of Poonch, Yasin M Choudhary commended the efforts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports for providing the players excellent platform. He also applauded the Department of Youth Services and Sports and Taekwondo Coach, Rajinder Singh for their efforts in imparting training to the district’s Taekwondo players. The Deputy Commissioner extended his best wishes to the players for the upcoming National Championship and expressed confidence in their ability to perform well and hope that will continue to excel in their respective sports and bring glory to their district and J&K. The Deputy Commissioner said that the success of the Poonch district Taekwondo players is a testament to the department’s commitment to promoting sports in the region.
The gold medal winners at the UT level Taekwondo tournament include Vanshika Sharma, Khalida Jabeen, Manpreet Kour, Akarshit Sudan, Vishvas Sudan and Toseef Tahir while Wasif Javed, Surpreet Kour and Qasim Hussain won the silver medal and Danish Khan, Vishnu Raina, and Sarvleen won the bronze medal.
