STATE TIMES NEWS

Kishtwar: Pooja Thakur, Chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC) Kishtwar, urgently appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the growing environmental crisis in Kishtwar during his Independence Day speech on August 15.
Thakur expressed grave concerns over the ongoing construction projects in Kishtwar, which are causing significant environmental damage. She warned that if immediate steps are not taken, Kishtwar could face a severe ecological disaster, jeopardizing both the region’s natural habitat and the livelihoods of its residents. “Our beautiful Kishtwar is at risk due to unchecked construction activities. I appeal to the Prime Minister to address this crisis in his Independence Day speech and to push for stricter environmental regulations in sensitive areas like ours,” Ms. Thakur said.
She urged for the inclusion of sustainable development practices in all future projects to protect Kishtwar’s rich biodiversity and natural resources.
