LEH: Leh Assembly constituency has set up a polling station at Gaik village which has only 12 registered voters.
“Gaik polling station has lowest 12 voters for upcoming Assembly elections”, District Electoral Officer, Simrandeep Singh informed.
“Of these 12 voters, 7 are females and five are males”, he said adding that it is one of 211 Polling stations setup in Leh Assembly segment.
There are a total of 10,005 polling stations setup for 72.25 lakh electorate for exercising right of franchise in five-phase Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir commencing from November 25 to decide 87 MLAs.
It is followed by Ezang Sumda with 13 voters in Leh segment, Sunudo in Nobra assembly segment and Thukgay Gompa with 17 voters each besides Changlung with 19 voters and Muktad with 20 voters in Nubra Assembly segment.
Out of the 87 Assembly constituencies, the Leh segment, which has distinction to have Polling stations with lower number of voters, also possess record of having highest numbers of polling stations.
Leh which has 211 polling stations, is followed by 176 polling stations in Kargil, 172 each in Ramnagar and Gandhi Nagar and 171 in Jammu West.
“In Leh Assembly segment, Anlay Fu is the highest polling station situated at an altitude of 14500 feet height”, DEO said adding it is followed by Chumur-1 and Chumur.
Over 600 polling stations will be situated at an altitude of 8,001 to 13,000 feet with the maximum of 183 located in Leh constituency followed by 158 in Kargil constituency. Over 190 polling stations will fall in the altitude of 7,001 to 8,000 feet. PTI
