JAMMU: J and K Congress Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir on Monday said that the “politics of polarisation” has come to an end in the State with the people rejecting BJP’s communal agenda and anti-social policies.
“The politics of polarisation has come to an end as people have rejected BJP’s communal agenda and anti-people policies,” he said while addressing a day-long political convention at Banihal here.
Accusing the saffron party for spreading communal sentiments during the time of elections, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief said that the people of the State can see through “BJP’s polarisation card”.
“BJP has polarised the situation during elections in the country and divided people to gain political mileage. But it is also true that people of the country have realised that BJP played a polarisation card to mislead them on religion, regional lines,” he said.
Mir noted that the same strategy was adopted by BJP in Jammu region to defeat Congress; but our party managed to secure highest percentage of votes in the 2014 Assembly elections.
The leader also termed the much-hyped membership drive of BJP in the State as a “hoax”.
“BJP will not succeed in misleading people further by their hollow slogans or bogus membership drive, they just want to remain in limelight to satisfy their mentors in Delhi,” he said. Calling the PDP-BJP State Government as a failure on all fronts, the JKPCC Chief said that the coalition is neither interested nor concerned about the issues of the state.
“Instead of concentrating on development and people’s issues they are playing pranks with people on the name of Good Governance (PDP) and Achay Din (BJP),” he said.
