JAMMU: Members of Movem-ent for Peace, Equality and Justice (MPEJ) on Thursday said that main reason behind the prevailing situation in Kashmir Valley is political corruption that has given rise to terrorism, drug menace, spurious drugs’ rackets, inflation, etc. Hailing the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir for assessing the 48-day long unrest in the valley, MPEJ members said that people are in dire need of politics which is humane and does not spread hate and enmity. They alleged that Kashmiri politicians had exploited common masses for years to satiate their vested interests. “This has lead to present morass and violent protests resulting into spree of death and destruction”, they added. They further said that the people want peace, equality and justice for all and also friendly policies for youth, farmers, women and children of the rural areas besides amendments in J&K anti corruption laws. “There is also dire need of electoral and judicial reforms without which justice to all is not possible. Perhaps now the Kashmiri politicians have understood that time for honest politics has come and that is why the parties which had previously boycotted talks with Home Minister are now showing willingness to talk to him. They have understood that befooling the people is no longer possible”, they added.
