UDHAMPUR: Day after the announcement of elections for the State Legislature, bustle amongst the political parties have increased manifold to gear up the activity for ensuring cent per cent seats in the arena of State’s Assembly.
Though, many political parties have already cleared the names of their candidates for Udhampur Assembly segment, the stalwarts BJP and Congress have not yet opened their cards.
The names of candidates from Udhampur segment which have already been declared include Panthers Party’s Balwant Singh Mankotia, PDP’s Sukhdev Sharma, BSP’s Ranjit Singh and National Conference’s Sunil Verma.
According to sources, front runners in BJP are Pawan Gupta and Pawan Khajuria while there is stiff competition between Ashwani Khajuria and Ashok Gupta for getting ticket from Congress for the Udhampur segment seat. Albeit, sources have signaled that Congress’ Ashwani Khajuria’s name is almost final for Udhampur seat.
Sources have informed that BJP MPs from J and K Jugal Kishore Sharma, Dr. Jitendra Singh and Thupstan Chhewang on Sunday went to Delhi for attending a party function. Apprehensions were being made that the names of candidates for Udhampur, Chenani and Ramnagar segments shall be finalised during the meeting of State leaders with the Party High Command at Delhi.
