JAMMU: Fair price shop dealers on Thursday staged protests demanding implementation of cabinet decision wherein they were promised permanent jobs.
Scores of fair price shop dealers who have been engaged with Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department fourteen year ago assembled in front of Press Club Jammu and protested against the government for neglecting their demand of permanent jobs.
According to the dealers, they were engaged for a long time on consolidated pay following a cabinet decision number 127/11/2014 dated 16 April 2017. “Till now the government has failed to implement the decision. It is unfortunate that despite a cabinet order in place the government is unmoved. For the last fourteen years we are engaged with CAPD Department and repeatedly demanded permanent jobs but to no avail,” said President of Fair Price Dealers Union, Tanveer Hussain Pathan. Pathan said there are around 3,500 fair price shops employees in J and K including 1,200 from Kashmir.
“If government can regularise the services of 60,000 casual workers why it’s delaying the implementation of the cabinet order,” he added.
