Police-Public interaction at Raipur Satwari Fosters stronger ties, vigilance

JAMMU: In a powerful outreach initiative to bolster trust, transparency, and accountability, an engaging Police-Public meeting unfolded today, 24th October 2024, at Raipur Satwari under the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari , Jammu. Chaired by SP South Jammu, this gathering brought together an impressive array of police officials, including SHO Satwari, ICPP Belicharana, ICPP Gadigarh, as well as esteemed citizens and energetic youth leaders, all sharing a keen resolve to enhance community-police partnership. SP South Jammu underscored the crucial role of Police-Public cooperation in safeguarding peace, stability, and the common good. With a firm commitment to “leave no stone unturned,” the SP outlined ongoing police efforts to tackle drug-related crimes and other societal concerns, calling on citizens to “stand shoulder to shoulder” with law enforcement to foster a safer community.

The session offered participants a “golden opportunity” to voice concerns spanning policing challenges and issues requiring civil administration attention. Community members expressed enthusiasm for youth-focused programs, requesting that Jammu & Kashmir Police organize engagement and counseling initiatives aimed at steering the younger generation onto a positive path.
In response, SP South Jammu reassured participants that all genuine grievances under police purview would be addressed “without delay,” while civil matters would be promptly referred to the appropriate quarters. The SP urged the community to become “eyes and ears” for law enforcement, assisting in identifying anti-social elements like drug peddlers, bootleggers, and others who pose a threat to public safety.
Acknowledging the crucial role of parents in nurturing a healthy community, the Police advised them to “keep a close eye” on the routines and activities of their children, alerting them to intervene if anything seems amiss. The Police reaffirmed its commitment to supporting families affected by substance abuse, offering treatment and assistance through the Police Drug De-addiction Centre in Channi, Jammu.
Regarding traffic safety, attendees were strongly reminded to “play by the rules,” including avoiding the transfer of vehicles to minors or unfamiliar individuals, always using seat belts, wearing helmets on two-wheelers, and steering clear of reckless driving.
In conclusion, SP South Jammu expressed the Police’s unwavering commitment to “put their best foot forward” in addressing community concerns, while actively collaborating with the civil administration.
