JAMMU: Police on Thursday conducted an awareness programme on drug abuse at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhalwal, Jammu.
The awareness programme was organised by SP Rural, Jammu, Arun Gupta in which SDPO Akhnoor Munish Kumar and SHO Police Station Gharota, Inspector Mashqoor Ahmed Giri were also present. Besides the students, ZEO Bhalwal, Jasbir Singh, ZPEO Bhalwal and school staff were also present on the occasion.
SP Rural briefed the students about the harmful effects of drugs in the life. He also briefed the school staff about their role and responsibility to prevent the student from drug menace.
He appealed to the teachers/students of the school to keep watchful eye on those students who are indulging in usage of narcotics and psychotropic substances. If they find any drug addict, they should inform the nearby police station or dial 100 service of police for immediate action, he added.
SP Rural exhorted upon the students to channelise their energy in sports activities to make their career bright instead of indulging in drug abuse. At last, SP Rural presented a cricket kit to the school students under Civic Action Programme.
