JAMMU: Five alleged drug peddlers were arrested and five kg of heroin was seized from their possession here on Friday, a police officer said.
Under operation Sanjeevani, a police party observed two vehicles parked on the B C Road in the city and during the search seized five packets containing one kg of heroin each, he said.
Five persons, two from Punjab and three from Kashmir, were arrested and Rs 1.5 lakh was recovered from their possession, the officer said.
“During questioning and observation it has been found that two groups of people from different parts of the country were indulging in deal of contraband items,” he added.
A case FIR No. 54/2016 under Section 8/21/22/NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Bus-Stand, Jammu and investigations initiated.
The whole operation was supervised by Vivek Shekhar, SDPO City North and Dr. Vinod Kumar SP City North, Jammu.
