Police arrests burglars, recovers gold worth Rs 7.5 lakh

JAMMU: With the arrest of two persons Police busted a burglars gang within 24 hours and recovered goods worth Rs 7.5 lakh.
This was stated by SSP Jammu, Sunil Gupta during a press conference here today.
Giving details, SSP said that in continuation to the Operation Meghdoot launched by Jammu Police, two hard core burglars who had committed a number of thefts under the jurisdiction of Police Station Gangyal were arrested.
“Jewellery valuing Rs. 7.5 lakh and in addition two laptops worth Rs. 70,000 were recovered from their possession,” he added. The burglar namely Vishal Sharma, son of Kamal Sharma, resident of Kunjwani Jammu was arrested from Jallo Chak area and 15 Tolas gold items were recovered from his possession.
The recovered items include one pair ring silver, one nose pin gold, locket gold, necklace gold, Mangal Sutra, three gold rings, two pair of gold Topas, three gold ear rings, one Manik Tikka, one bracelet, two gold bangles and one Naath, he said. He further informed that on sustained questioning Vishal Sharma disclosed the involvement of one more accomplice namely Dinesh Kumar, son of Madan Lal, resident of Kunjwani, who was also arrested and recovered two laptops along with accessories and 10 Tolas of gold items. SSP stated that with the busting of burglars gang, cases registered under FIR Numbers 18/2017 under section 454/380 RPC and FIR No. 136/2016 under section 457/380/RPC have been worked out and more recoveries are likely. The arrest was made by Inspector Aejaz Wani under the supervision of SDPO City South Rafiq Manhas and SP City South Sandeep Choudhary.
