JAMMU: Police Academy Udhampur organised a three-day course on ‘Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism’ for officers of the rank from Inspectors to SSP from 4th to 6th April 2016. The course was designed under the guidance of Director Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, Rajesh Kumar, IGP.
The basic objective behind this course was to make police officers well equipped and aware about the various aspects of terrorism and counter terrorism. The course was inaugurated by Rajesh Kumar IGP, Director SKPAU in which 28 officers of J and K Police participated.
During the course, eminent speakers including Rajesh Kumar, IGP, Director, Sher-e- Kashmir Police Academy, Nitish Kumar DIG South Kashmir Range, Surinder Gupta, DIG Udm-Reasi-Range, Mubasir Latifi, SSP Crime Jammu, Dr. Haseeb Moughal SSP AIG Welfare, PHQ, Sargun Shukla IPS Addl. SP Bhaderwah, Dr. Kulwant Singh Professor of Law, Jammu University, Ravinder Kumar Rao, DDP Assistant Director (Indoor) SKPA, Kamal Sharma, CPO CLI, SKPA and Sparsh Sharma, Scholar SMVD University Katra, delivered lectures and held interactions with the participating officers on the assigned topics including- Role of J and K Police in countering terrorism, preparedness to take on challenges, co-ordination amongst different security agencies, legal provisions to deal with the problem of terrorism, handling of investigation of terrorism related cases, human rights related issues in conflict areas, use of social media- fighting and countering terrorism, handling anti-militancy operations and law and order- new challenges for security agencies, terror funding, tactical preparedness to deal terrorism and insurgency, juvenile participation in terrorism, new dimensions in cyber terrorism etc.
The valedictory moments of course were graced by Shiv Kumar Sharma SSP Assistant Director (Admn) SKPA Udhampur. The course was coordinated by Pankaj Sethi, Sr. PO and Raqeesh Akram, Inspector.
