PoK Refugees serve ultimatum to Centre

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: S0S International, an organisation for displaced persons from PoK, served an ultimatum to the BJP-led NDA Government in Centre to accept the package within a week time or face wrath of the displaced community in Assembly elections.
Chairman, S0S International, Rajiv Chuni, while addressing a Maha Rosh Rally which was attended by a large number of PoK refugees, lambasted the BJP-led Central Government for trying to sabotage the rehabilitation proposal of the displaced community, submitted by the State Government.
He alleged that the BJP Government did not want to help the PoK refugee people by nuking excuses on the name of West Pakistani refugees.
“Delaying the rehabilitation proposal of PoK displaced persons because of the issue of West Pakistani refugees is just like denying employment to a new recruit on the plea that he would be allowed to join only after other unemployed are also accommodated,” he said.
The rehabilitation proposal of 1947, 1965 and 1971 -displaced persons, which was sent by the State Government after duly approved by the State Cabinet has reportedly been clubbed by the Central Government with the issue of refugees of West Pakistan which is altogether different and cannot be connected with the PoK as these people are State Subjects of Jammu and Kashmir while as the West Pakistan refugees are not the-residents of J and K, Rajiv explained.
Questioning the BJP’s stand on the issue, he said that the party which claimed to have always advocated for the cause of rehabilitation of the displaced persons, was now sabotaging the proposed rehabilitation of the community, which has been suffering for the last sixty years.
“Clubbing the non-State issue with the proposal of the PoK displaced persons is a direct attempt to sabotage the issue and is a double standard on the part of BJP. It indicates the ill intention and non-serious approach of the BJP Government in the Centre. This will have a serious repercussion as lakh of displaced persons, who are fighting for their just cause, will teach a lesson to the BJP in Assembly elections, if they do not get their dues,” he warned and served an ultimatum of one week to the Central Government to consider the proposal of PoK refugees or face boycott of the displaced community in polls.
